Emerson Peek 5/23/2017 10:50 PMIt often seems that doing a little bit here and there is the way to be successful. Today that meant planting buckwheat as cover crop in a new raspberry bed. -
Emerson Peek 5/22/2017 8:42 PMThe past two days were busy between a local trail race, visiting friends, a wedding, and a surprise drive to Spokane. Within the past few days, my major accomplishments include: re-visiting Derby Canyon Natives, carpooling with friends, hanging my clothes out on the deck to dry (need to buy a clothes line!) and eating several meatless meals. Also, looking forward to a CSA season of locally grown produce from Tierra Garden Organics! -
Emerson Peek 5/19/2017 10:28 PMI think connecting with people, known and unknown, is an important thread to healthy communities (and ecosystems)! I feel fortunate to have done that several times this week. More than a few of those discussions have been about flower identification and local ecology. Good stuff.-
Emerson Peek 5/19/2017 10:29 PMForgot to add that one of my specific favorites is volunteering at Laurie Peek's ESL classes. Always good connections there.

Emerson Peek 5/15/2017 10:54 PMI've been reducing fossil fuel use by using my motorcycle to go to work and run errands the past two weeks! That feels good on many levels. -
Emerson Peek 5/14/2017 10:25 PMMy major success this weekend was returning to the garden. Yesterday we built an "artistic" mini-wall in one of our beds using old logs. I also mulched our young fruit trees, and today fertilized them. I also managed to weed a portion of our raspberry bed. A good motto for the garden is "a little bit every day," and it felt good to put that mantra into action! -
Emerson Peek 5/13/2017 11:34 AMFeeling like I'm off to a good start today. Started with an early morning long run in the Tumwater area, caught my niece's soccer game, ate some eggs sauteed with locally grown arugula, and I'm heading out to do some kind of garden work this afternoon.-

Emerson Peek 5/12/2017 9:12 PMEven though there's always a lot going on in our daily lives, finding ways to "live greener" is an important priority. The initiative is ours to take.
