Joan Qazi 5/26/2017 9:27 PMIt feels good to have completed all my challenges! -
Joan Qazi 5/25/2017 4:20 PMI need to find out the name of my newspaper carrier who rain or shine delivers the newspaper in a plastic bag. I just don't want it unless it is really raining...Anyone else more plastic aware? -
Joan Qazi 5/24/2017 2:25 PMI still need to find out where I can recycle certain things that don't go in my bin. I have asked around about recycling printers but no one seems to have a good answer to that. I know that on Campus you can recycle ink cartridges in the Copy Center. Going to do that tomorrow! -
Joan Qazi 5/22/2017 4:20 PMToday, I wanted to add a couple more challenges to change things up. I added the one-time challenge under WASTE called: I will take a virtual tour of the Greater Wenatchee Regional Landfill. If you add that one, you can click on the link below it and it takes you to a short video of Waste Management's recycling process over at Woodinville's Cascade Recycling Center. It's different than the one we saw in class because it doesn't tell you where all the baled materials are sent but it is very cool to watch all the machines and people do the sorting of the materials. I highly recommend adding this challenge! -
Joan Qazi 5/21/2017 8:07 PMTravelling during the EcoChallenge is difficult. I went to Seattle to celebrate my son's 21st birthday, but I didn't plan as far ahead as I should have done. We went to the UW Street Fair and while I had a reusable water bottle, it was a hot day so I finished my water and wanted to buy something to drink but didn't have a re-usable cup with me or a re-usable plate for lunch. I did have my canvas bag so I was OK on that front! -
Joan Qazi 5/19/2017 6:57 PMI checked out the Link Transportation website today and learned how to travel around from my house all over the place. Taking the bus up to Leavenworth sounds fun. Plus, I found out that one of our friends is a Link bus driver! -
Joan Qazi 5/18/2017 4:31 PMGoing on the PUD conservation makes cents website was really quite interesting. I learned that I could get a rebate to get a more insulating front door (might need that) and also about low-water landscaping which I have been trying to implement--pulling out grass and planting native shrubs and flowers instead. Check it out! -
Joan Qazi 5/16/2017 7:00 PMI had to travel to Bridgeport today for work, but I was able to use the plug-in electric Prius from WVC and got more than 50 mph on the highway. It felt good! -
Joan Qazi 5/14/2017 7:58 PMI realized that some of my daily challenges aren't things that I would do daily, like drive on the highway or take my lunch to work. Maybe I'll add some different ones! -
Joan Qazi 5/13/2017 11:26 AMWoohoo, the eco-challenge has started!
