Being first is bittersweet as it shows  how neglectful I've been of this planet.  I will not only carry these new behaviors forward, I pledge to embrace a lifetime goal of seeking, assessing and amending my ways.  I hope that by this time next year I won't be anywhere near first!

I can no longer blame "the other guy", the factory, the jet setters and politicians because I now realize I'm the other guy.  But, this group, YOU have accomplished the equilivant of stopping the damage of a factory of 744 employees in just two weeks!  I'm chuffed to be part of that!

A big thanks to the Missing Links for their dogged determination, commitment and patience with my daily nagging emails but mostly I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to Climate Conversations, the NW Earth Institute and all the organizers of the EcoChallenge for bringing us this challenge and showing us the power of one, especially when all of us "ones" work together.  😃

Programming this thing is harder than piloting the starship Enterprise but 76 degrees feels like 70!  Major improvement.

Loki wants to know if this heavy pre-formed plastic can be recycled?  I've always struggled with these.  Anyone out here know the answer?

I will not take a long hot shower, I will not take a long hot shower, I will not take a long hot shower.
(Perhaps I better add that low flow shower head after all.)

Here's a laugh for you:  The solid brass faucet I salvaged off Craigslist years ago started leaking just in time for the challenge.  Unfortunately, it turns out it have European fittings!   Our temporary solution has been to utilize these stunning universal handles that fall off every time you touch them while we seek replacements.

    But... it is NOT leaking!

Coincidentally, a few weeks before the challenge, I started reading this report.  It stunned me.  I kept thinking, "Why hasn't someone done something before it got this bad ?"   (https://climate.nasa.gov/)

This challenge helped by showing me just how bad my personal impact is... it also gave me the tools to start changing.   Lots of tools!

I can only change my small footprint but with all of you I feel the possibility of real impact.  Maybe it's not too late?  .

My thanks to all of YOU and in particular, the volunteers who organized this challenge.

Auditing toxic chemicals and found loads of outdated products I no longer use and had forgotten about!  Now to find disposal options for this and other items in my house.  I am so grateful for this challenge and how it helps me reassess my life and choices.

These dragon-tongue beans are from seed stock that has have been in my family for three generations that I can vouch for and likely much, much longer.  It's sad to think that these beauties likely won't survive climate change and future farmers will have to depend on genetically modified seeds that will adapt to the environments decline.  😢
