I came up with another idea to help reduce my cost, less plastic packaging, and make the office a little greener with a mint plant.  I had been purchasing mint at the grocery store to use in my water.  Not only did I spend more on the precut stems of mint, but they are packaged in a plastic container for sale.  So this weekend, I am planting two plants, a spearmint and a sweetmint.  Then I will bring the small potted plants into work and keep them with my two other plants.  We will get some great mint smell, can be used by anyone if they would like to use it in their water, and it will be even prettier in the office with more real green plants.  Since the cost of the packaged mint is about $5-7 dollars, I will be saving money as well.  Yea!

I don't have a window either, but mint will grow anywhere!  My Grandma had it in the shade at her house in California.

I keep a little bit right outside my kitchen to add to my tea, too!  Having it at work is a terrific idea but, alas, I have no window...

Well, it is our last day.  Those who are most successful are those that start laying down a good foundation of habits that are considered good stewardship.   Once there is a good foundation, then you can build on that and who knows where that will take you.  Sometimes, it is the little day to day things that build up to the biggest impact.  I plan on contemplating how I can be better and continue where we started.  What little day to day things can I do to make a difference.

For composting and making garden soil, I love to get free coffee grounds from Starbucks.  They package up their used coffee grounds and then let people take it for free to use in their garden and for composting.  I am looking for more if you see any, grab it for me!  lol!

My husband is in love with LED lights.  We have been trading them out the last several years.  Less energy and more light.  It helps the pocket book to change them out little by little.  And Costco has a great deal!

I like to use a compost pot in the kitchen to conveniently catch all those scraps.  The pot has a charcoal filter to keep smells from invading the kitchen.  Then when it is full, I can add it to my compost tumbler.
